Buenos Aires

Tuesday, January 28th, our first full day in Buenos Aires and it is raining.  We left home at 8:30 am on Sunday.  Anacortes friends gave us a ride to the Vancouver airport.  The trip went smoother than a knife through melted butter.  After arriving at 10:15 am we looked around, read magazines and had lunch.  Our 777 plane was ready for boarding at 2:00 pm.  We landed in Toronto 2125 mi. later at 9:15 pm.  Dinner was a shared shrimp and rice bowl.  We were enjoying the really nice waiting area with tables and power outlets, just what the working traveler needs.  Around 11:45 PM we boarded and after waiting to have the plane de-iced we began the 5360 mi. leg to Santiago, Chile.  They fed us dinner and breakfast on this flight.  Hooray for international civility!  Our last leg was a mere 707 mi. from Santiago to Buenos Aires.  We arrived in Buenos Aires around 4:30 pm on Monday the 27th.   We did our frugal traveler thing and took a local bus from the airport into the city.  We got a free city tour (unnarrated, of course) during our trip.  In 2 hrs. we were within a few blocks of our hotel near Plaza del Mayo.  After showering to make us feel human again, we went out walking to find a restaurant.  Over filled from a day with many meals we went back to the hotel to sleep and get our biological clocks back in sync.

Now back to today, Tuesday.  Our luck would have it that the rain stopped late morning, so off to walk the city we go.  We walked to the waterfront and then back through the Boca district.  Tapas were our lunch at 4:00 pm.  Not so good for the biological clock.  I will let the photos speak for themselves.

David gets a really big beer to go with the Tapas

It is almost time to take off

Stuff laid out for packing
Departure time is nearing.  Our clothes are laid out in our guest bedroom.   Our hiking mileage is increased.  Climbing Mt. Erie has been added once a week to increase our endurance.  Yellow fever, hepatitis, typhoid and malaria vaccinations are in order.  Now all that is left is to leave.
More clothes

Actually now that I am editing this our clothes are packed in two 21" rolling cases, one duffle bag and two backpacks.  If we have forgotten anything, that is what the credit card is for!

I am testing out "Posts", a blogger app for the iPad, to see if it will work for me on this trip.

We did our last Mt Erie hike Sat am.  It was a great view above the clouds.
